Classical Christian Academy Graduates Excel at Academics, Service, Athletics

February 23, 2017 – North Fort Myers, Fla. — Classical Christian Academy is producing well rounded students who not only focus on academics but also engage in community service and extracurricular activities. The 2017 graduating class is larger than it has ever been at CCA. Here we highlight three of our 14 outstanding seniors, who have pursued individual interests to grow in character as well as intellect.

ACADEMICS: EMILY

Classical Christian Academy Graduates

Emily D. has been attending CCA since 8th grade and has taken all the Honors level classes CCA offers. She also dual enrolled at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) for two years, earning college credits while still in high school for courses such as College Algebra and Composition 1. She then began taking advanced classes online, including AP calculus and Chinese. For her Senior Capstone Project at CCA, Emily founded a “Lunchism” club which focuses on art appreciation. In this club, members talk about famous paintings and how they impacted the world; then they attempt to recreate these works in some way.

Emily has prioritized academics because she desires a good foundation as she heads to college and beyond. She plans to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University to study biology.

“Emily is an outstanding senior because of the academic effort and initiative she demonstrates,” comments Mrs. Christi Cecil, Upper School Assistant Principal. “She has taken the initiative to pursue her interests that take her beyond the courses offered by CCA.”

COMMUNITY SERVICE: JESSICA

Jessica D. has been attending CCA since kindergarten. She wants to become a nurse and has been volunteering at Lee Memorial Health System for three years. Jessica also has been volunteering as a small group leader/motions leader at Next Level Church every Sunday since the spring of 2016. Jessica tries to help others as much as she can. In 2014, she founded a charitable organization, Little Gifts Big Hearts (LGBH). LGBH helps families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) by giving them baskets each Christmas filled with a homemade baby blanket, hot chocolate, Christian CDs, mugs and a restaurant gift card.

“Jessica is an excellent senior because of her special attention to integrate her interest in nursing with a community service effort,” says Mrs. Cecil.

Because Jessica wants to become a nurse as quickly as possible, she has dual enrolled at FSW and will be graduating high school with her Associate’s degree (AA). She plans to further pursue her nursing education at the University of Central Florida.

ATHLETICS: KENDAL

Classical Christian Academy Graduates

Kendal D. has been attending CCA since kindergarten. At age 14, she discovered her passion for soccer as part of CCA’s first middle school soccer team. Kendal continued playing soccer throughout high school for the Cape Coral Cyclones soccer club, as well as with North Fort Myers High School. She received multiple athletic scholarships offers and has decided to sign with Keiser University.

“Kendal has a determined effort that she demonstrates by developing herself as a soccer player, while also balancing her academic work,” says Mrs. Cecil.

If the opportunity presents after college, Kendal would like to play soccer professionally. She plans to study marketing at Keiser and may pursue a career in fashion merchandising.

“These three students represent a class full of excellence,” comments Mrs. Cecil. “Members of our 2017 graduating class have traveled abroad for missions and humanitarian efforts; some have completed Associate’s degrees along with their high school course work. They have held jobs and pursued specific interests to develop themselves intellectually, personally and professionally.”

CCA SENIOR CLASS

Some of the colleges our graduating seniors will be attending include Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina Asheville, Indiana Wesleyan University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Keiser University. Notably, senior Jack W. has been offered an academic scholarship to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

All of CCA’s graduating seniors have completed community service hours, and several will be graduating with honors. On average, the CCA seniors volunteered 159 hours throughout their high school years. That’s a total of 2,029 collective hours spent in service both locally and globally. Way to go seniors!

“They are an exceptional group of students who are exceptionally prepared to carry a love for Christ into their worlds,” concludes Mrs. Cecil.
