NORTH FORT MYERS, Florida (CCA) February 27, 2014 – Classical Christian Academy hosted their annual History Day event on February 14, 2014 from 9:00am – 2:30pm. This year’s theme was A Ticket In Time; where students, parents and faculty came dressed in costumes from the 1900s to 1960s.
Each year Classical Christian Academy hosts a history fair from a different time period, allowing the students to get a first-hand “feel” for that specific place in time and having fun while experiencing a piece of history. This year, students entered through the Tardis (Time machine) and were able to visit 7 different booths ranging from a Depression Museum, Roaring 20s, Titanic, USO and the World’s Fair. The cafeteria was transformed into a 50’s style diner and everyone enjoyed hamburgers and root beer floats. After lunch, the middle and high school students had a “sock hop” and learned the various dances from the 50s.
Leading up to the event, students were involved with various projects, writing assignments and speeches to present that further enhanced their understanding of the time period thus giving them the chance to really enjoy themselves on the day of the event.
